The hotel made tulum worth it

The hotel itself is very nice.the location is a bit of a walk from Centro but not bad. If you want the beach you are not close but the hotel has two great pools. Tulum itself was a disappointment for us. The ruins were good but that was about it. Thank heavens for the hotel and its staff. They were a delight. Breakfast was included and delicious- you could eat from the buffet and also order a La carte. We had one meal on rooftop but it was not very good except for the short rib tacos.

Our stay was great, I highly recommend!

I liked that the property looked like a tiki hut and the rooms were modern and very comfortable. The resort had two restaurants with a lot of options for food. The breakfast was included in our fees and it was good. The staff was friendly and very helpful with suggestions for places to go and helped us book excursions to the Cenotes and Chichén Itzá. I also liked that there was a U.S. dollars ATM on the property along with a peso ATM.

I didn’t have any issues and I highly recommend this resort.

Beautiful place, need to improve especially the breakfast

Glass door in the wc, lightning the room in the night. Lights also from the pool area lightened the room. Breakfast was quite bad, no healthy option, terrible coffee- they charge extra for an espresso even it was the only “normal” coffee - some towels were dirty

Centeal location, pretty hotel, rooftop pool, great buffet breakfast

For the price, location and beauty of the property it was a great price. We were 5 minutes from the beach, and a short walk to nice restaurants and shops in Aldea Zama. For guided tours such as Chichen Itza, the meeting point was the Super Akí which is a 5 minutes drive. The restaurant staff at the upstairs restaurant were very friendly. Check in was smooth and there were no hidden charges at check out.

Some of the breakfast staff were rude. Could be gaps in communication due to speaking English. Also, the shower water was never warm enough.

What was the highlight of Kimpton Aluna Resort Tulum by IHG

More good than bad. We would stay here again and I recommend the suite!

We had a little hiccup at the beginning of the trip but Madelyn the manger quickly resolved and be were highly satisfied with her resolution. Our room was upgraded. The thing that stood out the most were the restaurant staff members, there were two guys especially that always went above and beyond with the service. Luis the concierge was also amazing (he always is). This was our fourth stay at Aluna. We always stay there when visiting tulum. Front desk guys were also good.

This isn’t the hotel’s fault but we were there during the off season. It rained the whole time which probably clouds my overall perception. Due to it being the off season, they seemed less staffed which is reasonable because you have less people. Despite the restaurant service being great, the back of house did not have everything on the menu and made some odd substitutions expecting us not to notice. I do not recommend the club sandwich or pizza but again, poor judgement on my part because when in Mexico, don’t choose American dishes. Housekeeping could have been better. Took all day to come but Madelyn made up for this. We also had a problem with hot water which Madelyn promptly resolved. Aldea Zama had changed a lot since three years ago when we were last there. Some for good and some for bad. Our fav restaurant Chula closed. They gained a new restaurant called Alma Verde which was amazing! There are new shops close by. Aldea zama is a short walk to tulum town but Tulm town is very run down now. We used to love to go there and support the local less touristy businesses. Tulum is becoming more commercialized as it has gained popularity and it takes away from some of the qualities that made it special. I would have liked to have smelled more copal at the hotel. The welcome drink was horrible. Not sure what it was but we didn’t drink it. There used to be a deliciously blended green drink. There are chains like carls junior and others that are starting to take over Aldea zama. Taxis are ridiculously expensive $30-$50 anytime you go anywhere. It was better when we rented a car. Aluna has parking fyi. The pool looked a little run down and the outside spaces of the property in general needed a little care but hard to do during a tropical storm.

A good Kimpton property

The staff was lovely. The pool area was good. I enjoyed the breakfast. The room was very good sized and well appointed. The wifi worked well. The shower area was especially lovely.

It was a bit secluded for my taste (although there were some restaurants within walking distance).

Good stay if you're looking for a comfortable hotel in the town area.

Room was clean and comfortable; staff were always friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a good variety, including hot food. Overall ambiance was warm and inviting.

The location is quiet, so need to take a taxi/bike to the beach or main street. Rooftop pool wasn't very clean so we didn't swim there.

Solid hotel in newer hotel area

The hotel itself is very nice, just like the photos and the staff were lovely. The food was also very good. The rain was extremely heavy one of the days so the top resteraunt was closed but they opened the downstairs late instead (the food was actually even better). You get plenty of space and rental bikes - town is walkable but I wouldn't try walk to the beach

A nice hotel with decent amenities

The hotel has a lovely aesthetic, a decent breakfast and quite good amenities. You can rent bikes for free to get around. The rooms are really spacious, each with its own lovely seating area. The staff is friendly. There are two pools - one next to the breakfast area on the ground floor and a rooftop pool for adults. The WiFi is good!

The service is slow and the staff is nice but not that effective. You will likely need to ask for the same thing twice or three times over. Although the hotel is well situated, you really need a car to get around as taxis are extremely expensive and it is a still a 15-20mins drive from the beachfront/restaurants. The rooms and the hotel overall is dark and mainly in the shade. Our room required the lights on all day long due to its poor sun exposure plus it smelled a little damp. The swimming pool downstairs was entirely in the shade - the rooftop one was better. The extras are expensive - for example, breakfast is included but you cannot order a bespoke coffee or even water without an additional charge. Pack mosquito repellent!

Comfortable,well run,conveniently located small hitel

Comfortable room, good AC, comfortable bed, pillows, linen. Clean throughout the resort, nice to have towels on pool chairs, very good nd bountiful breakfast, Edwardo was very helpful, front staff member who was in charge of bikes was very helpful, bike worked well, nice happy hour on rooftop deck, nice balcony overlooking pool, good location.

Was happy with facility and staff. My only suggestions, 1. Provide lights for bikes, the area where hotel is located is very dark at night. 2. Provide 2 umbrellas, one doesn’t work well for two people on a rainy night.

Great rooftop bar and food, nice and helpful staff, large room.

A bit expensive. Very humid in the room, not the fault of the property (you are in the Caribbean Sea after all) but room price should be adapted and be lower.
